Tony Yayo the original name is Marvin Bernard, but he is better known by his stage name, Tony Yayo, which he has used since the 1990s. One of the best-known American rappers of all time.
G-Unit was a popular hip-hop group co-created by Tony Yayo, Lloyd Banks, and 50 Cent in 1999, and Yayo is likely best known as a member of that group. After The Game departed “G-Unit” in 2005 after a feud erupted between him and his former bandmates, Young Buck and Kidd have also joined the group.
In 2003, not long after 50 Cent’s commercially successful “Get Rich or Die Tryin” studio album debuted, “G-Unit” appeared with their presentation collection, “Ask for Mercy.” On Billboard, “G- Unit’s” compilation ranked #3 and sold more than 377,000 copies in its first week of release.
Exceptional, “Ask for Mercy” has sold 2.7 million collections in the United States alone, which has earned it a double Platinum certification from the RIAA. The commercial success of “G-Unit” came quickly after, but it was overshadowed by a long-running conflict between the group and its predecessor, The Game.
